“…according to this “rule”, I could eat 2,500 calories worth of pizza and as long as I burn 2,600 a day, I will be lean. So false. You have to put the proper nutrients in your body to keep it running efficiently. 3,000 calories of nutrient dense food will make you leaner than 2,000 calories of crap.”

I thinkkk I just made the best granola ever. It looks like a lot to do, but it’s QUITE simple! Use any nuts and dried fruit you like, this is just what I had on hand.
Things that Go with Apples Granola
(loosely based on this recipe: homemade apple cinnamon granola from rockstar diaries)
2 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
3/4 cups crushed raw almonds
1/2 cup roasted sunflower seeds
1/4 cup flaxseeds (I read somewhere they only have nutritional value if ground, but I still think they taste good either way)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cloves
2 medium apples (fuji, gala, whatever you like)
1/3 cup honey
1 tbsp oil (I used grapeseed… you could probably just leave it out altogether if you like, I just panicked cause it wasn’t sticking together very nicely)
1 cup dried cranberries
3/4 cup chopped dried dates
1 cup dried apples (I dipped some thinly sliced apples in cinnamon and stuck them in the oven at 200 for 2 hours)
Mix all the dry ingredients together. Skin and chop the two apples, then blend them for an apple puree. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry. Smear onto a baking sheet in one layer, then bake at 300 for one and a half hours, breaking up and mixing at one point in the middle.
When it’s finished, take it out and mix it with all the dried fruit— maybe even some dark chocolate-covered raisins— for a simple, delicious, and debatably nutritious snack!
What I love most is that it’s not too sweet, so you can add that dried fruit and not get that gross sticky teeth feeling :)

I will reblog any justification for my watermelon obsession.Fresh watermelon juice is not just for summer! This is an excellent fruit that can be found at markets almost all year round. It is great for quenching thirst but also amazing for combating the inflammation that contributes to conditions like asthma, atherosclerosis, diabetes, colon cancer, and arthritis. If you are feeling a little low in energy this is a great fruit to have on hand as it is rich in Vitamin B. If you are making your own fresh watermelon juice, try juicing the entire melon, rind, seeds and all. If you are going to juice the entire watermelon it is best to use one that is ORGANIC so that you don’t end up with pesticides in your drink! Enjoy.
